Since the beginning, Lutheran Lakeside has been For Every Season – constantly adapting to offer an accessible, relevant, formative ministry that strengthens faith, fosters relationships, develops leaders, and leaves people connected in Christ. It is time now to build up Lakeside for its next season.
For those of you who’ve had the blessing of spending time at Lutheran Lakeside, you know it’s a special place. Lakeside is a place of belonging for all people to find joy and purpose in God’s creation. A place where people from all walks of life enter community, immerse themselves in creation, discover wonder-filled adventure, steward their God-given gifts, and become transformed with a greater connection with our Creator.
Since the beginning, Lutheran Lakeside has been For Every Season – always adapting to offer a an accessible, relevant, formative ministry that strengthens faith, fosters relationships, develops leaders, and leaves people connected in Christ. It is time now to build up Lakeside for its next season.
The space between earth and heaven is just a little thinner when you’re at camp.
At Lutheran Lakeside Camp, campers find:
Since our first camp in 1961, Lutheran Lakeside Camp has welcomed campers from 10 different states, committed to creating a welcoming space for everyone.
The Impact:
The lasting positive impact is lifelong. We have families who stop by and tell us about how they came to Lutheran Lakeside when they were kids over 50 years ago and they always remembered it so fondly and it had such a great impact on them. We even have individuals who spread their ashes here.
There are not enough spaces available that are affordable, formative in faith and leadership, and disconnected from technology. Lakeside fills that need and opportunity. By offering outdoor and recreational experiences to youth, adults, and families we are forming faith-filled, servant-hearted leaders (young and old) for the world and making the communities they live and lead in stronger for generations to come.
Based on Lakeside’s recently adopted strategic plan, we have identified key priorities to invest in Lakeside, enlivening a vibrant future of ministry for years to come.
60-year-old Clay asbestos pipes – not functioning
Leaking groundwater
Flooding the neighborhood downstream
Manholes not up to code
Sanitary Sewer Department has given us 5 years to replace pipes
Thousands of dollars each year in water leaks and repairs
Only seasonal access
Easement so the county takes ownership of all future maintenance
Continued water and sewer services that sustain the camp operation
Year-round access for new cabins and other facilities
More efficient and cost-effective infrastructure
Environmentally responsible
We envision transforming Lakeside to be a place that continues to grow and nurture faith through our camp programs and expand the way in which adults and families an participate in our programs and enjoy our facilities. By the end of this effort Lakeside will quite literally be For Every Season as we improve all property and facilities to dramatically increase year-round offerings, as we seek to offer a place of belonging for all people to find joy and purpose in God’s Creation.
The result of our efforts will be more than construction and renovation. Through this effort, we will further accomplish our vision and achieve the following annual
goals within 3-5 years:
» Increase annual summer camp attendance by 350 campers
» Increase non-summer attendance by 5,000 guests
» Offer more accessible facilities that support our guests identities
Reaching the challenge goal of this campaign will allow us to create an endowment for deferred maintenance needs. This will ensure future funding needs to continue maintaining, repairing, and replacing all our structures as needed, so we can continue offering meaningful experiences. The endowment investments will be put back into the account until we have a need for it.
